The client’s brief was to design an interesting and innovative office for their construction firm, which pushed the boundaries of energy efficient design and utilised natural building materials made in Aotearoa.

They wanted to create an office space that was not only visually appealing but also offered a great atmosphere to work in. And in particular, an office, which was energy efficient, economical to run, used building materials that produced minimal waste, provided great air quality, was well ventilated, and kept them warm in winter and cool in summer.

Their desire was to also use the office as a space for clients to experience and appreciate the value that energy efficient buildings can provide and visually show them the construction methodology.
